DJ Chucks aka Charles Anderson

EM: What station do you DJ for?

DJ Chucks: I DJ for WJFF 90.5 FM Liberty, NY wjffradio.org / oldskoolsessions.com Saturday nights from 10 pm - 2 am

EM: What made you want to become a DJ?

DJ Chucks: I started DJ-ing at a really young age. It was a passion for me. I listened to the radio, the music was powerful and the DJ played a huge part. The way they introduced the song, the announcements and just the way they did their set was amazing to me. House parties were the big thing back in the 70s and 80s.

EM: How long have you been a DJ?

DJ Chucks: I’ve been a DJ most of my life and have been collecting records since I was 9 years old. I have a massive collection!

EM: What type of music do you typically play?

DJ Chucks: I typically listen to many genres, but “Old Skool” is my favorite and this is also what I play at the radio station. The 70s and 80s are the best in my opinion. I love Reggae, Golden Era, Rap, Pop, Funk, Soul, Latin, Disco, R&B, much, much more.

EM: Tell us about your many years of DJ experience and who and/or what was your inspiration?

DJ Chucks: My experience, well, I've done parties, clubs, weddings, churches, park jams, block parties, and house parties. My parents were a huge inspiration. My older 2 brothers were very influential in my career. From buying records, to playing on big sound systems.

EM: From your perspective, why is the DJ so important?

DJ Chucks: To me, I believe us DJ’s are the Heart & Soul of the music. Our job is to entertain, make people feel good, forget about their troubles and just have a good time. I’m hoping one day that the people will come back to the real 'original' DJ, it is an art that is fading away in it's traditional sense.

EM: What advice would you give to new DJ's entering into the game?

DJ Chucks: For anyone who wants to get into the DJ game, you have quite a bit to learn. Not just because you must learn techniques, but you have to learn the technology. However, this is possible, but you must be dedicated.

EM: What is your favorite car on the lot right now? Why?

DJ Chucks: My favorite car on the lot is the 2020 Toyota Avalon. It’s a smooth and comfortable ride and good on gas.

EM: Would you like to give anyone a Shout Out?

DJ Chucks: Shout out to Black Arrow International, King Tubby Dub Heritage, WJFF 90.5 FM
